Ms. Weaver will be talking about everything to see, hear and do in Cobb County this summer. Please join us for this always informative presentation.
Early voting has started for the July 20th Election; Register to vote by June 21!!!
Early voting for the general primary and special election began June 4 and runs through July 16 at the Elections Office in the West Park Government Center, 736 Whitlock Ave., Marietta. No reason is required and registered voters may vote in person 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. The office will be closed Monday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day. Any voter may also apply for a vote-by-mail ballot and no reason is required. Ballots will be mailed out beginning June 4. Applications are available at cobbelections.org.
If you are not currently registered to vote, June 21 is the last day to register before the general primary and special election. If you moved and did not notify the Cobb Board of Elections and Registration, please do so no later than June 21 so you may vote at your proper precinct. Applications and information is available at cobbelections.org, by emailing info@cobbelections.org or by calling 770-528-2581.
First Johnson Ferry Urban Design Meeting
Thursday, June 24, 2010, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the East Cobb Government Center
In February of 2010, the Board of Commissioner authorized the Community Development Agency to develop the Johnson Ferry Urban Design Plan as a result of growing concerns for this major commercial and residential corridor. A series of focus group discussions were held in 2009. These discussions resulted in the need to further study the area and create an overall urban design plan focusing on improving the aesthetics and maintaining its unique character.
The plan is a mid to long range plan that will address land use, and transportation. In addition, the plan will provide a framework for improving both visual aesthetics and functionality of public spaces. Staff has conducted the initial data gathering and analysis phase, while a steering committee in being formed in preparation for the first rounds of public meetings. Future meetings are scheduled for August 5th, October 25th and January 24, 2011 at the East Cobb Library.
