Safety Issues

Dear Camden Place Homeowners,

Please read: we need everyone in our neighborhood to cooperate in order to improve this situation and to avoid a serious problem/accident.

Over the past several months there have been numerous complaints in regards to street parking in the neighborhood. We have been in communication with the Department of Transportation to discuss this matter and to determine what actions we might be able to take.

While the streets in our neighborhood are currently zoned to allow parking on both sides on the street, very dangerous situations are created by the lack of courtesy, consideration and common sense exercised by people when parking on our streets. Vehicles that are parked on BOTH sides of the street severely limits access of emergency vehicles. Ambulances and firetrucks cannot get through.

If you are hosting a guest or guests (including contractors or repairmen), please ask that they first use your driveway to park their vehicle(s) or park on only one side of the street, not across from another vehicle already parked on the street.   Aside from denying access to emergency vehicles,  vehicles parked on the street create obstacles for other drivers in our neighborhood. Vehicles parked on the street decrease visibility to oncoming traffic and passing a parked vehicle is dangerous. A perfect example of this is Clarendon Drive which has limited visibility due to the hill and curve in the original design of the street.

Another issue we receive numerous complaints about is people driving about the posted speed limit and failing to come to a complete stop at stop signs. Parents please remind your young children to use sidewalks and exercise caution when crossing the streets.

To summarize:
  • Do not allow guests to park along both sides of the street
  • Do not allow your guests to park within 25 feet of a stop sign.
  • Make sure they are parked as close to the curb as possible
  • Allow guests to park in your driveway
  • Stop at stop signs and observe the speed limit
Please be considerate and respectful of the safety of your neighbors.

Thank you for your cooperation. Please address any questions or comments to Stan Brothers (HOA President).
