CCSD Budget Update and Information

The information below was sent in from some Camden Place residents and was written and distributed by a Mt. Bethel Elementary committee.   It explains the impact of the Governor's proposed budget and ways members of the community can help our school district.   Just passing it along to residents who do not have children at Mt. Bethel.  There are some links in the article, that you might need to cut and paste in order to view.
Proposed Budget Update: Call to Action!!!!

We start out with some GOOD NEWS!  The initial report of the Governor's budget is that it adds $547M -- an increase of over half a billion dollars in one year -- for our local school systems.  The Governor predicts that this increase may enable local school districts to restore instructional days, eliminate teacher furloughs and increase teacher salaries. You can get a state budget copy here.  For FY 2015, almost 82 percent of new revenue receipts are dedicated to education, with 68 percent of those new revenues going to K-12 alone.  This likely means that austerity cuts are being reduced, but not eliminated.

Make the call: Call your legislatures to urge them to support Gov. Deal’s proposed budget.
